Junior Lego League
Jr. First Lego League introduces the youngest students to the exciting world of science
and technology. This non-competitive program features real-world challenges, to be
solved by research, critical thinking and imagination. Guided by adult coaches, students
work with LEGO elements and moving parts to create solutions and present them for
review. In this program students will learn basic problem solving, electronics, mechanics
and computer programming skills.
At the K-3 level, students will…
Design and build challenge solutions using LEGO elements
Apply real-world math and science concepts
 Research challenges facing today’s scientists
 Learn team-building and presentation skills
Develop Show-Me posters for parental demonstrations
Smart Fun’s program is led by our Pre-K/K teacher, Sheena Thomas, and an experienced
electrical engineer, Monica Allen. Monica began working with the First Lego League
program while studying engineering at Dartmouth College. She developed a passion for
training younger generations to be the technological leaders of tomorrow.
